When I first heard that [b:Scarlet|13206760|Scarlet (Lunar Chronicles, #2)|Marissa Meyer|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1342485529s/13206760.jpg|18390691] was spin-off of Little Red Riding Hood, I was incredibly excited! I love this fairy-tale and it even inspired a few of my design projects. That said, I was also a tiny bit weary because I didn't love [b:Cinder|11235712|Cinder (Lunar Chronicles, #1)|Marissa Meyer|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1317794278s/11235712.jpg|15545385] as much as everyone else seems to. It wasn't that [b:Cinder|11235712|Cinder (Lunar Chronicles, #1)|Marissa Meyer|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1317794278s/11235712.jpg|15545385] was bad, it was good and I loved the fresh take on the dystopian genre and the fantastic world set in New Beijing, the cyborgs and Lunar people. My main problem was it was quite predictable. And don't hit me but I didn't really swoon over Price Kai. But thankfully that was not the case in [b:Scarlet|13206760|Scarlet (Lunar Chronicles, #2)|Marissa Meyer|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1342485529s/13206760.jpg|18390691].From the very beginning the story took off in a different direction from what I expected. The new characters introduced - Scarlet, Wolf and Thorne were interesting. Wolf in particular was very, very different from what I imagined. He reminded me a lot of Murasakibara from KuroBas. Strong and menacing, but with a touch of childlike vulnerability. He's always hungry too! The short story [b:The Queen's Army|16075962|The Queen's Army (Lunar Chronicles, #1.5)|Marissa Meyer|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1349734763s/16075962.jpg|21871423] gave his character even more depth and did a great job in introducing his background. I would have loved to learn more about Scarlet and Thorne. Perhaps Marissa would write a novella about them one day. The scrapes Thorne got into would definitely be fun to read and I'd like to to know the Scarlet before her life was changed forever by events in this novel. From the comments in early reviews, I had kind of expected to dislike the 'insta-love' between Scarlet and Wolf but that didn't happen either. As Scarlet herself said in the book, it should have been ridiculous because they've only known each other for such a short time but the pace it was developing at felt just right.[b:Scarlet|13206760|Scarlet (Lunar Chronicles, #2)|Marissa Meyer|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1342485529s/13206760.jpg|18390691] was also a lot 'busier' than [b:Cinder|11235712|Cinder (Lunar Chronicles, #1)|Marissa Meyer|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1317794278s/11235712.jpg|15545385] was because the story was taking place at three different places at the same time but it was plotted out nicely and it never felt disorienting to switch between. In a way it also felt more distant because you don't get to spend as much time with a sole character. Overall, this novel was an wonderful read that I devoured in one afternoon. I'm really looking forward to [b:Cress|13206828|Cress (Lunar Chronicles, #3)|Marissa Meyer|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1359501942s/13206828.jpg|18390772]!-----------------------------------------------------------I won this beautiful book from Andrea @ The Overstuffed BookcaseTHANKYOYTHANKYOUTHANKYOU.I've been wanting this so bad.
