Wither - Lauren DeStefano 2.5 stars(Wither fell between it was okayish and I kind of liked it.)I've been in love with this book's cover for as long as I can remember so I immediately bought it when I saw the paperback was $5 on BookDepository. (yes, very shallow reason :P)As I've recently discovered, characters > world building for me so I was able to finish this book. The characters weren't very developed but they weren't irritating (with an exception of Cecily). Reading Wither was a very...lethargic experience. It started off good but as the story continued I gradually lost interest in it. I just didn't care for the characters and I didn't feel the stakes. Rhine seems to say one thing but often does the opposite. Before reading this book, I thought the issue of polygamy would bother me but it didn't. Except for the image of Cecily being heavily pregnant. That was just.. *shudder*The world-building is very vague and messy. Other than the fact the rest of the world (except for North America) has been destroyed, the things they have seem to be very similar to what we have now (with exception of strange and intriguing things like June Beans, the keyboard) and they don't seem to have many high-tech things other than the holograms. Do they even have security cameras?? All in all, it was an okay read and I wouldn't have continued on. But since I already own [b:Fever|11112619|Fever (The Chemical Garden, #2)|Lauren DeStefano|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1324955449s/11112619.jpg|16035084] and [b:Sever|12383869|Sever (The Chemical Garden, #3)|Lauren DeStefano|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1343168408s/12383869.jpg|17364649], I have no choice but to finish the series.
